In monism, pain is neither good nor bad; it simply is.

A raindrop does not argue with the window it lands on. We have spent so much of our lives sorting every sensation into a basket labeled good or bad that we forget there is a third option: to let it simply be what it is. Pain, in this view, is not a verdict on our worth or a punishment to be decoded — it is weather moving through the one body we all share. When we stop wrestling each feeling into a category, something loosens; the sensation stays, but the second arrow of resistance falls away. The storm and the stillness are made of the same water. What would change if we met our pain the way the glass meets the rain — without a name for it?
