Ego is the gravity that gives us the systems of government that we have, the wars that we fight, and also the happiness that we feel on achieving something great.
The same force that fuels our wars is the one that lets us feel proud, and at its center sits the ego, that quiet gravity bending everything toward a self. Like mass curving spacetime, a sense of "me" warps the field around it, pulling events, people, and meaning into orbit. Nations, rivalries, ambitions, and small private triumphs all trace the same curved lines back to that center of pull. We are not asked to destroy this gravity, only to notice how much of our world is shaped by where it bends. When we loosen the pull, even slightly, the orbiting things drift into a wider pattern. What might fall differently if the center weighed a little less?
