Loving everyone can be a very selfish act, in that you're the one who gets the most out of it. But it's the most generous selfish act you can do.

Nonduality has an odd side effect: the more seriously we take oneness, the more we notice that love arrives at its source before it ever reaches its target. Warmth is generated where it is felt first, so whoever loves is always the first one warmed. From the outside that can look like selfishness, and in a sense it is, but it is the only selfishness that leaves everyone else warmer too. If we are one organism, kindness is not a transfer from us to them; it is circulation. The mirror we polish to see others clearly turns out to be the same mirror we have been looking into all along. What would change in a single day if generosity cost us nothing to give?
